Introduction to Project Management

This seminar provides an overview of project management applying a five phase model: Initiate, Plan, Execute, Monitor, and Close. Each phase has a defined set of inputs and outputs that help move the project to successful completion. The seminar provides methods to define the project’s deliverables and use the deliverables to develop a project plan. The seminar uses MS Project 2003 to illustrate the concepts. The seminar provides sample projects and uses case studies to illustrate the techniques. You will also get the Ombu Project Management Toolkit, a collection of Excel spreadsheets to help understand and implement many of the seminar concepts.

Project Work Breakdown and Sequencing

This seminar provides a comprehensive look at the concepts of work breakdown structures and project sequencing. The seminar defines the elements of a work package and develops associated metrics to help evaluate performance. The work packages are sequenced to form the project plan. The seminar explains various sequencing methods including the Gantt chart, the Critical Path Method (CPM), and the Program Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT). The seminar explains common metrics, including cost and schedule performance, used to monitor and evaluate projects. The seminar uses MS Project 2003 to illustrate the concepts. The seminar provides sample projects and uses case studies to illustrate the techniques. You will also get the Ombu Project Management Toolkit, a collection of Excel spreadsheets to help understand and implement many of the seminar concepts.

The seminar uses examples and Excel spreadsheet models to explain and illustrate the methods. The seminar then shifts to capital budgeting methods to help choose projects from a larger set of acceptable projects. This includes considerations of project portfolio management. The seminar explains project cost management and its associated metrics such as Earned Value Analysis. The seminar uses MS Project 2003 to illustrate the concepts. The seminar provides sample projects and uses case studies to illustrate the techniques. You will also get the Ombu Project Management Toolkit, a collection of Excel spreadsheets to help understand and implement many of the seminar concepts.
